Final Steps
Volunteers are an essential part of Johns Hopkins Medicine. Assignments will be made in accordance with your interests, abilities and goals and in consideration of the needs of the Hospital, which will be the ultimate determining factor. Volunteer assignments will be made only upon the request and agreement of the department to which the volunteer is assigned.

Before a volunteer is accepted into the program and given an assignment, you must:

  • Complete an application
  • Be interviewed by the Volunteer Services Department staff
  • Agree to dedicate at least 100 hours a year to the hospital community
  • Receive medical clearance from the Hospital's Occupational Health Office and provide proof of vaccinations (MMR, Varicella, Tuberculosis, Tdap, Flu & COVID)
  • Provide a copy of your legal photo ID
  • Pass a background check & drug screening

Upon acceptance into the volunteer program, you must be willing to:

  • Sign a Volunteer Agreement
  • Accept and abide by the policies of Johns Hopkins Medicine, the specific Hospital where you are assigned, and the Volunteer Services Department
  • Attend volunteer orientation
  • Complete required training
  • Complete annual requirements

Once your application has been reviewed by the Volunteer Services office, a member of our team will contact you with next steps.
